So glad you shared it with your kids! We often think we're so forward thinking with our stories: to discover we had something like this published in 1939 is pretty amazing. This mama has talents, and she cares about each of her children's talents as well. There's something about the mother-artist in here, I think.

It is such a good illustration of so many good things! Your book on girls' series is another good resource for better understanding the different ways that women really were in the early 20th century.

I love this book. We talk about how each bunny had a job in the family, including those who entertained or made things beautiful

Yes! It's all about celebrating everyone's unique gifts and really being those out for the community and family! Too often I think we focus on trying to pretend we ought to be able to do it all rather than recognizing and celebrating the offerings community. Love that you had heard of this before, too. I missed out as a kid!
